Imo State has about seven (7) accredited higher institutions: Imo State University, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Technological Skills Acquisition Institute, Orlu. These institutions serve the people of Imo and others from all over Nigeria. This makes Imo attractive and an important hub for academic work in Nigeria. It is my plan to ensure that young Imolites all have access to education from primary through to tertiary institutions. This will be achieved through the following programmes:

Free & Compulsory Secondary School Education:

With the Federal Government already taking care of funding for primary education, the Imo State Government will be poised to take up cost for secondary school education for all Imolites.

Education & Practical Skill Development Policy:
Education Sovereign Grant: Through a sovereign guarantee, the State Government will make funds available to students moving onto tertiary education. To qualify for this study loan, students must meet particular educational requirements, such as having a specific number of credit from their WAEC. Upon completion of their studies, they will pay back the loans over a period, having signed a pact with the State Government Ministry of Education.

Practical Skills Development:

In addition to the acquiring secondary and tertiary education, the state will encourage Imolites to acquire skills to drive entrepreneurship and economic activities within the state.
